Challenge
Disney wanted to build anticipation for its live-action Moana ahead of its theatrical release, and needed a way to bring the film's music and story to fans that felt immersive and alive.
Solution
We produced a drone experience above Dodger Stadium set to a mix of unreleased Moana songs and fan-favorite classics, staging the film's defining moments in the sky — from Maui transforming above the crowd to Moana restoring the heart of Te Fiti.
Results
The show gave participants a first look and listen at the new film ahead of its release — turning a night at the ballpark into a cultural preview moment. It delivered:
-
An exclusive early preview of new music paired with a familiar but fresh story
-
A shared, in-person experience for a packed Dodger Stadium crowd, extending Disney's storytelling beyond the screen
-
A new model for film launches — one that builds anticipation through live, participatory moments that stay with people long after the night ends
Why It Worked
Disney and the Dodgers created a moment participants could only experience live. By staging the film's most emotional beats above a packed stadium, the show turned a marketing moment into a cultural one, pointing to a new playbook for launches built on shared, in-person storytelling.
