At Pixis Drones, we believe in creating unforgettable experiences that connect communities and elevate moments to new heights—literally. On August 17, we had the honor of lighting up the sky above the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, for their second annual Tennessee Saturday Night. This high-energy event welcomed over 6,000 new and returning students to campus with an evening packed with excitement, engagement, and a little bit of magic.

The Division of Student Life pulled out all the stops, offering students a chance to discover the diverse services provided by 20 of their offices while enjoying live beats from DJ Sterl the Pearl, participating in dodgeball, getting crafty with arts and crafts, and even snapping a selfie with Smokey, the iconic UT mascot. But the night reached its peak when we at Pixis Drones took center stage, closing out the evening with a drone light show that left the crowd in awe and the sky ablaze with Vol pride.

“We want every student to find their home on Rocky Top,” shared Frank Cuevas, Vice Chancellor for the Division of Student Life. “It’s part of the Volunteer experience. We strive to create opportunities for our students to connect with their community and feel like this is where they truly belong.”

And connect they did. The enthusiasm was contagious. “Tennessee Saturday Night has made me excited for the new year,” said one student. “Seeing so many of my peers, especially first-years, getting involved and making the most of their time at UT is inspiring.”

Even the University of Tennessee Football team got in on the action, sharing a video of our drone show on their social media to hype up fans for the upcoming season.
